The powers that be compete in outer space
Within hours of NASA announcing a 2 year delay in its next Mars mission from 2009 to 2011, China announces plans to cooperate with Russia in launching a mission to put a satellite into orbit around Mars in 2009. Coincidental timing?

More cheap food!
Following last time's cheap lunch, today, I went to a nicely decorated restaurant for lunch. My set lunch included a delicious pork belly ("dong ball" meat) dish, a decent portion of ramen, a sweet/sour soup, some veg and a drink... all for... HK$40.
10% service included in the price already. That's not even GBP 3. In London, GBP 3 can buy me just the drink, or half of the ramen, or 1/4 of the pork belly dish.
Sure, there are many expensive eateries in HK, but the cheap stuff here is just as good as the expensive stuff.

One World One Dream?
"Globalisation is bringing us all closer together". "The world is becoming smaller, flatter". etc..
Hardly the case when I look at China and the West, at least. While the mainstream Western media is full of hysterical and doomsday headlines about Paulson and the US$700 Billion miracle pill, the Chinese (and puppylike Hong Kong of course) media is only reporting on Shenzhou 7, the Chinese rocket that just launched a few hours ago, to carry 3 Chinese men into orbit around Earth. There are at least two different worlds on Earth, who hardly consider each other at all.

Eating costs in Hong Kong
Today, I had a very decent Vietnamese lunch. A pork chop noodle, spring rolls and a posh drink all for HK$ 63, which is roughly GBP 4.50. Considering the standard of the restaurant, at its equivalent in London, the drink alone would probably cost GBP 4.50. Whatever else I may think about Hong Kong, good food at good prices is definitely something I love about this place!
Britain is way overtaxed. With not enough to show for it.

A parked car
Car's been parked in a garage for some time. Can go to xanga.com/beepbeepcar for older road trips, but for now, Car is being lovingly maintained in a deep dark garage somewhere. Maybe new road trips in future!
